Legacy Application Reduction

In the Federal government, as in most large organizations, there are thousands of overlapping information systems with redundant functionality. Our systematic approach to identify, analyze and rationalize an organization's legacy applications can achieve as much as an 80% reduction in systems and costs. By starting with a baseline portfolio of applications detailed information is then gathered about the systems so informed decisions can be made. Based on the information gathered, teams conduct Business Case Analysis (BCA) on the set of systems to identify which systems will make up the long-term portfolio of systems. While this sounds simple, cultural resistance and stove-piped applications impose change management challenges. These challenges are overcome by employing techniques to help the customer approach the problem differently. RGS employs our Integrated Change Management methodology to help the customer(s) apply legacy application reduction techniques to themselves, rather than having it done to them arbitrarily through budget cuts.
