RGS supports our staff’s volunteerism and provides employees with opportunities to give back to their communities. Some of the events that RGS has participated in over the past year are:
So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.)
Groups of employees regularly volunteer for the breakfast shift in the S.O.M.E. dining room for the homeless, where they prepare and serve meals and interact with guests.
USO Operation Care Package
RGS employees spent the day at the USO warehouse in Fort Belvoir to prepare care packages to be shipped to deployed servicemen and women overseas.
USO Texas Hold ’Em
RGS sponsored a Texas Hold ’Em Tournament for patients recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) in which wounded warriors were invited to participate in a friendly game of poker. RGS employees served as dealers for the tournament and the RGS sponsorship provided prizes for the top eight players.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
RGS has been a platinum United Way sponsor for the past 15 years. We rally around this cause each Fall by encouraging employees to donate through payroll deductions and to participate in fundraising events including bake sales, social events, and our ever-competitive annual Penny War!
When the popular television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" came to the DC area, RGS employees volunteered through United Way for shifts to assist in the construction of a home for a well-deserving local family.
