RGS Awarded State Department Contract To Help Rightsize Overseas Presence

Arlington, VA
September 14, 2004

RGS Associates Inc., of Arlington Virginia, announced today that it has been awarded a $1.9 Million contract to support the US Department of State, Office of Rightsizing which was established in 2004 to coordinate the President's Management Agenda initiative to "Rightsize" the US Government's overseas presence.

According to Richard L. Armitage, Deputy Secretary of State, "Rightsizing is the process of aligning the number and location of staff assigned overseas with foreign policy priorities, security and other considerations. Rather than staff Baghdad in 'business as usual' fashion, we will build on our on-going regional re-engineering efforts to minimize Iraq staffing, providing as many support activities as possible from remote locations. It is our intention that this is the way we will conduct business there permanently, with the objective of applying this approach to other posts in the future." Grant S. Green, Jr., Under Secretary for Management added: "Rationalizing the US Government's overseas presence is no easy task. We welcome the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) decision to include rightsizing as an initiative in the President's Management Agenda."

Tom McMahon, Vice President of RGS, said: "We are honored to be selected to assist the Department of State as it transforms its worldwide business model. Helping the State Department change the way it staffs overseas posts is a complex change that is well suited to our core competency of helping Federal agencies change the way they do business."
